At our next meeting we will look at the EUF complaints procedure. We will discuss how it can be improved and what it should include to cover for all possible situations.
June Catch Up
At our next meeting, we will talk about the role of psychiatric liaison staff at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. EUF members have asked to invite someone from the team to know more about their role.
At our next meeting, we will catch up on a very busy month for EUF! We will talk about the projects two EUF sub groups have been working on.
At our next meeting, we will talk about how a Short Breaks scheme could work in Edinburgh. A few months ago, we talked about the Short Breaks programme that is available in Midlothian and EUF members thought it would be a good idea to have the same kind of scheme in Edinburgh.
At our next meeting, we will catch up on the discussion we had about detention and safeguards in January. People had a lot to say about Advance Statements, Named Persons and staff dealing with detention.
At our next meeting, we will talk about detention at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and how people need to be made more aware of the safeguards they can use to help themselves.
To wrap up 2009 we will have a look at the work EUF has been involved in throughout the year. At our next meeting, we will talk about what EUF members have campaigned for and the work they have done to improve services in Edinburgh.
At the next EUF Meeting the Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living is coming to speak to us about Self Directed Support and Direct Payments.
Eileen McNaughton will come to speak to EUF at the October meeting.
She is a Planning and Commissioning Officer at City of Edinburgh Council and she is in charge of writing a report on the review of advocacy. Eileen will ask people what they think makes a good advocacy service.
At our next meeting, we will talk about the review of the Mental Health Act. Last year, the Scottish Government set up a group to look at how the new Mental Health Act was working. It has now started a consultation on what they have said should change.
At the August EUF meeting, we talked about the advocacy review. John Armstron came to talk with service users about his role and the future of advocacy services.
